Boxing is a combat sport in which two participants, typically wearing gloves, engage in a contest of strength, skill, and endurance to deliver punches to each other while avoiding being hit. It is one of the oldest and most widely practiced martial sports in the world. The primary goal in boxing is to land clean, effective punches on the opponent while maintaining control of the fight, either to score points or to knock out the opponent.
Boxing is practiced both professionally and as an amateur sport. Professional boxing is widely popular and has produced legendary fighters like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather, and many others. Amateur boxing is also a key part of international sports, featured in events such as the Olympics.
"Kobudō teaches that the weapon is not an extension of violence, but an extension of discipline — true self-defence begins long before the fight." "Self-defence is not just a set of techniques; it’s a state of mind, and it begins with the belief that you are worth defending."
Kickboxing is a martial art that blends elements of boxing with the dynamic kicking techniques commonly found in karate, especially those performed with bare feet. While the roots of kickboxing can be traced back to ancient Asia over 2,000 years ago, the modern form of competitive kickboxing emerged in the 1970s. During this time, American karate experts introduced full-contact competitions that incorporated both punches and kicks, which had previously been restricted in traditional karate.
To ensure the safety of participants, various forms of protective gear and safety rules were introduced over time. These adjustments paved the way for the development of different kickboxing styles practiced globally today. These styles vary in the techniques used and the level of physical contact permitted between competitors, offering a wide range of approaches to the sport depending on the competition format and regional preferences.
